"The body is the unconscious mind." - Candace Pert
Yoga
Hatha Yoga is the union of body, mind and spirit. At the root, yoga is about relationship. The body is our teacher and can reveal the nature of who we are, where we are and how we are in the world...if we are to listen, it can be a magical, uplifting and healing experience. We can also learn how to be in our bodies in a way that allows joy to move through us with greater ease.
There are countless health benefits associated with yoga practice including decreased blood pressure, decreased physical pain and tension, decreased stress and anxiety, elevated mood, increased confidence and improved overall energy.
I teach a spinal-based, restorative Hatha Yoga practice that has been fondly referred to as "Bliss Yoga". This yoga practice is designed to open the spine, sacrum, tailbone, and hips to unravel tension and open the body. In our modern culture, many of us spend a lot of time sitting which shortens the front of the hips and tightens the sacrum and tailbone. This can lead to lower back pain and all kinds of back problems, including poor posture and low confidence. When our spine is tight, tense and stiff we experience pain, discomfort and an agitated state of mind. Many of us walk around with more tension than we realize. With this practice, you will experience that tension begin go melt away. You will find yourself slipping into a fresh, relaxed and peaceful way of being that brings you back to yourself.

What does this look like?
This yoga practice is a little different than more popularized versions of Hatha Yoga that you may find in studio classes. It is a series of postures designed to induce deep relaxation in the body and unravel tension. The postures are designed to be deeply supported so your body doesn't have to try to hold itself together. Each posture works to open the body from the hips, tailbone and sacrum and then all the way up the spine and also includes gentle backbending, twisting and breathing practices.
